AMY FREAR (Playwright/Performer) is an actor, writer, and theatre artist currently spending her time between Philadelphia, PA and Brooklyn, NY. Originally from the Philadelphia area, she holds her MFA in acting from the University of Washington in Seattle. Amy is a lover of classical work, new plays, and devised performance. As a writer/performer, Amy has created numerous solo shows including BLUEBEARD, NAPOLEON AFTER ABDICATION, and AT THE BANK. In Summer 2011, Amy collaborated with other theatre artists on the West Coast to create the piece BARBARIANS at Studio 116 in Seattle. Recent projects include: BEACHES by Bailey Williams (24Hour Insomniart Festival, June 2012), BLUEBEARD by Amy Frear (reading at The Shubin Theatre, February 2012), ONE NIGHT STAND by Race Brown (Manhattan Rep Theatre, January 2012), ANOTHER ROUND by J. Adam Russell (Walnut Studio 5, July 2011), Directing Apprentice/Assistant to the Director for The City Theatre Company in Pittsburgh, PA (2010) and as Director/Producer for POSSESSION by Elizabeth Green (The Arts Parlor, Philadelphia, PA, 2010). This is her first time working in Philly! In New York she has worked with The Seeing Place Theatre, The York Shakespeare Co, Superhero Clubhouse/Bushwick Starr,The Pearl Theatre, The Heights Players and The Hangar Theatre.
